Abstract

Dear Colleagues,

I feel honoured to present to you the Fourth Edition of the Nigerian Bar Association, Port Harcourt Branch Journal. There is no doubt that the quality of scholarship consistently displayed in the preceding editions has positioned this Journal as a highly sought-after publication within legal circles.

I am particularly excited to announce that the Journal is now internationally registered with Google and is in the process of being listed on the African Journals Online (AJOL) platform. This development marks a significant milestone, as it enhances the visibility and accessibility of the Journal, placing it among internationally acclaimed legal publications. In furtherance of this progress, I am pleased to inform you that the Journal will subsequently be available online via the Branch’s official website, thereby providing easier and broader access to its rich scholarly content.

For me, this achievement represents the fulfilment of a promise made upon assuming office as Chairman—to create a credible platform through which the brilliant scholars within our Branch can showcase their work to the world.

I am deeply pleased that the Editorial Committee has brought this vision to life through their dedication and commitment to excellence. I also extend my sincere appreciation to all contributors who entrusted us with their scholarly works, as well as to our peer reviewers whose diligence has ensured the high standard of this publication.

This edition may well be the last I will sign off on as Chairman of the Branch. As such, I encourage all members to continue to support subsequent editions and sustain the growth of this important intellectual platform.

It has been a privilege to oversee the publication of this Journal. I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Journal Committee, the Editorial Board, the Advisory Board, our contributors, and our peer reviewers for making this dream a reality for the NBA Port Harcourt Branch.

Thank you all, and I wish you continued success in your future endeavours.

Cordelia Uwuma Eke, LLM (Kent), LLB (RSUST), BL (Lagos),

Chairman, NBA Port Harcourt Branch (2024–2026)
